WHAT IS CRYSTAL HEALING?

Crystal healing is non-invasive and works alongside other treatments or as a stand alone therapy.  It is a type of alternative therapy that involves using gemstones to bring balance into our lives.  The aim of crystal healing is to treat the whole person including the individual's subtle energy field.  Crystals have a stable and unchanging energy pattern, each with a unique frequency or resonance, that provides them with special properties.  As a result crystals act like tuning forks helping bring harmony to the very unstable energy field of the human body.

RHODONITE ♡

Rhodonite is a stone of compassion which is widely recognised as an emotional balancer that aids in clearing of emotional wounds and scars from the past while nurturing love in the present.  This stone has a strong resonance with forgiveness and assists in reconciliation while it also stimulates, clears and activates the heart.  Rhodonite grounds energy, balances yin-yang and aids in achieving our highest potential.

WHAT IS A MALA?

Mala is a Sanskrit word meaning garland and is the term for a string of beads used in spirituality for thousands of years. Yogis and Buddhists were the first to use mala to enhance their spiritual practices using them to keep count of mantra repetitions or japa during meditation.

HOW MANY BEADS ARE THERE AND WHY?

Mala is usually made of 108 beads and one guru bead. This enhances the practice of japa meditation, also known as mantra meditation, by keeping count of the number of times a mantra is chanted. Malas can be made with fewer beads for example 18, 27 or 54 and some holy texts say a mala should only consist of nine beads meaning a mantra chanting 108 times would require you to complete 12 turns of the nine-bead mala. A mala with 27 beads is used for attaining spiritual progress, while a mala with 108 beads is used to achieve fulfillment.

WHY ARE THERE KNOTS BETWEEN EACH BEAD?

Traditional malas are hand-knotted between each bead. Each knot signifies the challenges we meet in life and serves as a reminder that all aspects of life are inter-connected.

WHAT DOES THE GURU BEAD REPRESENT?

The guru bead is the heart of the mala as it represents a significant teacher we wish to honour whether it be Buddha, a Deity, God, or any spiritual teacher that has personal significance to us. The guru bead marks both the beginning and the end of a mala and each of our handmade malas include a companion guru bead which represents anyone in our life that has had an impact on our personal and spiritual growth. Everyone that comes into our life does so for a reason and whether it be temporary or long-term, negative or positive, every encounter and everyone we know has something to teach us.

WHY DO MALAS HAVE A TASSEL?

The tassel symbolizes the lotus flower which is significant in Yogic and Buddhist traditions. The lotus grows in muddy water, rising and blooming above the murk to flourish. This underlines our human potential and our ability to meet, overcome and grow in the face of life’s challenges and ultimately achieve enlightenment. Lastly, with use the mala becomes infused with our intention and that positive energy is radiated out to the world through each strand of tassel and positive energy is received back through the tassel and into the mala.
